my secret

I think I'll make this blog my secret, no one else can see journal of complaints, conquests and attempt at personal reflection.

Today we had the diabetes w/s @ work.

I learned a couple of things:

-Diabetic's stomach's empty out 2x faster than normal people.
-eating fiber, fruits & veggies helps keep the food in our stomach longer and therefore, satisfied.
-We should not eat to full.

-High triglicerides are an indicator of a fatty liver, and I already know I have a fatty liver.
-One of the biggest ways to bring your HDL up to a good level is exercise.
-30 minutes of exercise 5 days a week can prevent diabetes and alzeheimer, and lower blood pressure.

-Omega 3 supplements are very helpful, but I can't remember why.

-I should be checked for my A1C at least 2x a year.

-If my waist if bigger than 35" (40" for men) I'm at risk for diabetes. If BMI is more than 30, I am obese.

-My annual exam should include an eye exam, foot exam and kidney check.

AND MOST SHOCKING:

As we gain stomach fat, it becomes it's own endocrine gland, and the cells make hormones that make me fatter and fatter!!!!
